Parallel Synthesis Technologies
Jobs
May 2005 Parallel Synthesis Technologies (www.parallel-synthesis.com), the first company to provide micromachined silicon tools for biotechnology applications, has two positions available at its Santa Clara CA facility.
Molecular
Biologist/Biochemist
This Ph.D. biologist or biochemist will work with Parallel's science, engineering
and marketing teams to contribute biology and biochemical expertise appropriate
to develop the next generation of micromachined silicon tools for Genomics
and Proteomics applications. Knowledge of biotechnology applications and assays,
especially in the areas of protein microarrays and other array technologies,
genomics, high throughput, parallel and combinatorial chemistries, or the
synthesis of DNA and alternative oligonucleotides, are desirable. Engineering,
design and computer skills such as knowledge of SolidWorks® design software,
the use of LabView® and the programming of computer/instrument interfaces,
experience in instrumentation development, as well as any familiarity with
lasers and optics, would be a substantial plus. Experience in the statistical
analysis and quality control data would also be useful.
Inorganic
Chemist/Materials Scientist
This Ph.D. chemist, chemical engineer or materials scientist will provide
solid state inorganic materials for a new optical encoding technology under
development at Parallel. The ideal candidate for this position would have
wide ranging experience in the solid state synthesis of oxide and fluoride
systems by precursor and high temperature methods. Experience in the measurement
of the optical properties of materials, and in the design, construction and
operation of laser and optical systems, would be very desirable.
