Protein
Crystallization Chips: PXC ('Pixie')
PSTI has prepared a new type of chip used to accelerate the crystallization
of proteins. The technology is based on the preparation of a surface
that acts as an epitaxial nucleant towards the formation of protein
crystals. The nanofabrication techniques used to prepare the surfaces
yield many texturally and compositionally diverse sites per unit
area. The effect is strong and highly specific with some proteins
crystallizing in less than an hour and only at very specific chip
addresses. Furthermore, the surfaces are prepared in a format
that allows the determination of crystal quality without removing
the specimen from the growth chamber. Certain of these Protein
Crystallization Chips are ready for immediate testing. Please
